The Department of Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship (DAME) will welcome and host Dr. Myeong Hwan Kim, Professor at Purdue University Fort Wayne and President of the International Academy of Global Business and Trade, for a week of academic activities at UPLB from October 12 to 16, 2026.

Dr. Kim’s visit brings together several opportunities for academic engagement with the University and the Department. Throughout the week, he will take part in discussions and benchmarking sessions with DAME faculty, with particular focus on the sharing of experiences and practices in research and teaching. The visit will also include engagements with UPLB academic leadership, including courtesy calls with UPLB Chancellor Dr. Jose V. Camacho Jr. and CEM Dean Dr. Maria Angeles O. Catelo, as well as opportunities to connect with DAME alumni and members of the Department’s stakeholders.

The academic activities will also feature two sessions under the World Expert Lecture Series (WELS), bringing Dr. Kim’s expertise in international economics, global business, and trade. Dr. Kim is a professor in the Department of Economics and Finance at Purdue University Fort Wayne and has research interests in international economics, including work connecting finance and open economy macroeconomics. He also serves as President of the International Academy of Global Business and Trade (IAGBT).

The first WELS session, “The Critical Link Between Open Markets and National Wealth,” will be held on Tuesday, October 13, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the REDREC Auditorium, UPLB. The session is open to the UPLB community and will explore the relationship between open markets and national wealth.

On Wednesday, October 14, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Dr. Kim will lead the second WELS session, “How International Trade Fuels Global Marketing Expansion,” at the ICOPED Auditorium, UPLB. The session is exclusive to DAME students and is designed to provide a more specialized learning experience that complements their classroom discussions on global business and international trade.

Dr. Kim’s visit is held in partnership with the UP and UPLB Office of International Linkages (OIL). For DAME, the visit also provides an opportunity to strengthen academic connections, exchange practices with an international academic partner, and build on existing relationships within the global business and trade community.

Students interested in attending the WELS sessions are encouraged to register through the forms provided in the official poster. Students may also check the list of participating courses offering incentives for attendance, particularly for courses where the lectures complement the topics and learning outcomes covered in class.

DAME looks forward to welcoming Dr. Kim to UPLB and to a week of learning, conversations, and new connections.
